Information from the publicly available online databases maintained by Lloyd’s Register – Fairplay (Sea-web) and Lloyd’s MIU shows five visits to five ports in Japan (Kobe, Nagoya, Sendai, Kashima and Shimizu) by four IUU-listed vessels. Two of the recorded visits were made by the CCAMLR IUU-listed reefer Seed Leaf. The rest of the port visits were by the ICCAT IUU-listed vessel Melilla No. 101 (one visit), by the IOTC IUU-listed vessel Ocean Lion (one visit) and by Polestar which is IUU-listed by NEAFC (one visit). Port visits took place between 2006 and 2009. Of these five visits, one is considered as a violation of NEAFC port State measures, two visits are considered to be potential violations, and the two remaining visits are seen as non-violations. Japan is a CP to CCAMLR, IATTC, ICCAT, IOTC, NAFO, WCPFC, CCSBT, GFCM and a Cooperating Non-CP to NEAFC.
