Information from the publicly available online database maintained by Lloyd’s MIU and communication with Mauritania shows 16 port visits by four IUU listed vessels to Nouadhibou port in Mauritania. 15 of the 16 port visits were done by three reefers: the Cliff, the Cefey (see Vessel Profiles) were on the NEAFC/NAFO IUU vessel lists and Sunny Jane was on the NEAFC IUU vessel list at the time of the visit. One additional port visit was by the NEAFC/NAFO IUU-listed vessels Gorilero. These visits took place between June 2005 and October 2008. In three occasions port State actions were carried out, and the other 13 port visits are considered as non-violations. Mauritania became a CP to ICCAT in December 2008.
The Board for the Surveillance and Control at Sea (DSPCM – Deleguationà la Surveillance des Peches et au Controle en Mer) has informed us about a port visit of the vessel Gorilero in August 2007 which was followed by a port State action due to false or incomplete data.
