Information from the publicly available online databases maintained by Lloyd’s Register – Fairplay (Sea-web) and Lloyd’s MIU shows 14 port visits by three IUU-listed vessels to two South Korean ports (Busan and Yosu). The reefer Polestar, which was on the NEAFC/NAFO IUU vessel lists, made four recorded visits and the Seed Leaf, a CCAMLR/SEAFO IUU-listed reefer, made seven. The third vessel is a fishing vessel, the Thonina V, which is flagged to South Korea and on the ICCAT IUU vessel list. All reported visits occurred between November 2006 and August 2008. 10 of 14 port visits are considered as violations of NAFO, CCAMLR and ICCAT CMMs (3, 4 and 3 violations respectively), three visits are considered as potential violations of CCAMLR CMMs and the remaining visit is considered as a non-violation. South Korea is a CP to CCAMLR, CCSBT, ICCAT, IOTC, IATTC NAFO and WCPFC.
